President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received on March 8 Foreign Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan Tomohiko Taniguchi.
Tomohiko Taniguchi said Japan attaches special importance to Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring stability, security and mutual understanding in the Islamic world. According to him, the appointment by the Japanese government of an experienced ambassador to Azerbaijan indicates the significance attached to the development of bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev hailed the Japanese government’s long-standing support to his country since the early days of the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence. The President also stressed the importance of the assistance of Japan’s banking sector in the upgrade of infrastructure in Azerbaijan. The head of state stressed the high level of bilateral relations, which are based on the principles of mutual understanding and partnership.
The sides also exchanged views on the implementation of infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan, cooperation in the banking sector, economic diversification, agriculture, and other issues.
