The 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue wrapped up in Baku.
Within the framework of the military dialogue, the working groups reviewed a wide range of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in security, military, military-technical, military education, military industry and other fields, and defined key areas of action for the oncoming tasks.
At the end, a protocol was signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Staff of the Republic of Turkey on the outcomes of the Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting.
Military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey began in 1992 with an agreement on military education. The agreement established close and sustainable cooperation of the Azerbaijani and Turkish governments in the fields of defense and security.
So far, the Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces have hold regular drills, featuring various tactical and combat tasks both on Turkish and Azerbaijani territories. This May, joint exercises of the two countries Armed Forces were held in Azerbaijan. Later, in June, the two countries had military exercises in Nakhchivan.
In September, the two countries' Air Forces conducted TurAz Eagle – 2017 joint flight and tactical exercises in the Azerbaijani territory. The exercises involved up to 30 aircrafts of the Air Forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
