In late October 1993, Armenian military units invaded the Zangilan region of Azerbaijan. This fact was reflected in the fourth resolution of the United Nations Security Council 24 years ago. During the occupation of Zangilan, 188 people were killed, and 44 people went missing. About 35,000 people became internally displaced persons. On November 12, members of the UN Security Council voted for the adoption of Resolution 884. The document confirmed the previously passed Resolutions 822, 853 and 874, which also urged to immediately withdraw Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
